Artic Rally Preview

Arctic Rally Finland is set to be one of the most entertaining World Rally Championship events ever. Not only is it a brand-new event for the series, but the entry list is packed with 13 World Rally Cars that will all be vying for glory.

Why should 7x world champion and dominant winner of the opening round belong among outsiders? Answer is simple. Start position. Disadvantage first pass and even bigger in second pass. And for sure not a much better position for the rest of the weekend. His chances even for top5 results are not very big.

3rd on the road, new co driver and maybe not so competitive car against Toyota. These are the main reasons why Neuville could easily find himself out of Top5. Big outsider especailly agains his team mate Tanak for atractive odds in H2H market.

7th on the road, fast stages and good preparation in Estonian national rally. What could stop Ott on his way to victory? Looks it can be another smooth effortless winning run like in Sweden 2019. But there is one question mark. How competitive will be Hyundai against Toyota? We could see last year that with even good road position he could not chalenge Evans.

As we could see already on shakedown, speed is really there. He has experience from the previous year with the Arctic rally and he showed amazing speed last year. Question mark is. Can he put together a good clean event? Winning a rally requires more than a couple of stage wins. Without mistakes he really can win the Arctic rally.

Possible surprises:

Very good starting position, 2nd place from Sweden 2018, 2nd place from Estonia 2020 and shakedown times. Those are the main reasons why an outsider (according odds) could really be on the podium.

Again not a big favorit according to odds. Same as last year. And he was able to win after a really dominant performance. On shakedown today he did not have the best times. Same as last year. We believe that if he will not lose too much on the opening two stages, he really can fight for the podium.
